Finance people in the corporate organization focus on technologies, work processes and corporate governance issues. Those in business roles bring finance expertise to Dow’s global businesses while those in the regions are responsible for the deployment, compliance and implementation of work processes at the local level.

Auditing >

Assesses internal controls and processes, identifying opportunities to make improvements and to reduce risk. Works with all levels of Dow people around the world in areas such as Commercial, Manufacturing, Information Systems and Purchasing as well as other Finance sub-functions.

Controllers >

Responsible for providing world-class transaction processing and reporting – both internally, for Dow’s global businesses, functions and geographies, as well as externally, for Dow’s shareholders. Also provides consultative, interpretive analysis and support focused on improving global business performance.

Insurance/Risk Management >

Works with the businesses to assess and manage the financial implications of risk. Designs and negotiates programs with global insurance companies, insurance subsidiaries and financial institutions to secure our company’s position. Manages the operations of insurance subsidiaries.

Investor Relations >

Provides the investment community with timely, credible information on Dow’s strategy and performance to increase investor interest in Dow equity and fixed income instruments. Also works with Senior Leadership to ensure they understand the investment community views of Dow.

Mergers & Acquisitions >

Leads the corporate activity related to mergers and acquisitions, an integral part of Dow’s strategic plan.

Portfolio Investments >

Manages the investments of Dow’s global pension funds and re-insurance assets. Researches global investment opportunities in various asset classes, makes investment decisions, optimizes the trade-off between returns and risk of the portfolios, and manages the asset/liability risk.

Strategic Planning & Business Analysis >

Provides financial consulting to company management while maintaining and developing the financial analysis and strategy development technologies deployed across the company. Provides merger and acquisition evaluation support for company-wide or cross-business projects, and utilizes financial modeling and analysis skills to support value-based decisions.

Tax >

Tax has a primary focus upon tax planning, managing tax risks including income tax audits and tax litigation around the world, financial reporting for taxes and internal controls and providing excellence in tax compliance. Tax is a global function and interacts with business leaders and key functions on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and significant business transactions.

Treasury >

Global function within Dow that ensures the Company’s financial flexibility allowing the Company to meet business and corporate strategies. In addition, Treasury works closely with executive management to manage risk holistically employing enterprise wide risk management methodology. The Treasury processes drive for excellence and innovation in each of the key financial activities: cash management, corporate risk management, credit risk management, financial planning, financial risk management, financial asset management, financing, insurance, and venture capital.

Business Aligned Finance >

Provides financial consulting to the businesses utilizing a variety of skills developed in Controllers, Strategic Planning & Business Analysis, Auditing, Tax or Treasury. Works closely with business leadership to develop, evaluate and modify value creating strategies. Activities include competitive analysis, capital project authorizations, M&A and divestiture opportunities, short and long-term planning, and performance monitoring.
